Sauna Tips & Cautions

  1. Drink 2 – 4 glasses of water prior to using the sauna to avoid dehydration.
  2. Wear clean loose fitting clothing. The heat will loosen dirt and release it into the air and onto your skin. Tight fitting clothes can restrict your skin’s ability to breathe.
  3. Remove any jewelry to avoid burns.
  4. Remove any creams or lotions. The heat can make them run and make a mess. They can also clog your pores.
  5. Avoid using the sauna after a meal.
  6. It’s recommended to limit your time to 15 or 20 minutes.
  7. Get out immediately if you feel light headed, dizzy or nauseous. It’s recommended you sauna with a friend.
  8. If you’ve been drinking alcohol do not use the sauna. Alcohol dehydrates the body which can be dangerous in the sauna.
  9. After you sauna, cool down slowly. If you shower, start with warm and gradually lower the temperature.
  10. Drink 2 – 4 glasses of water to re-hydrate your body.
